SMACH was established in 2012 as a cultural non-profit entity. It oversees a permanent open-air sculpture exhibition, the Val dl’Ert, in San Martino in Badia (Bolzano) and an international art biennale in the Dolomites. Since its first edition, the event has received an exponentially larger number of applications from all over the world.
SMACH is all about local and institutional synergies. It promotes art, the local area and landscape, local activities and lifestyle, and cultural tourism. It does so by creating a point of reference and meeting point for art lovers, nature lovers, tourists, and art experts.
Over time, the Val dl’Ert art collection has grown – and so has our dedication to manage, preserve, and protect the sculptures and installations. The same applies to the valley’s twenty hectares which include a woodland and a mountain hut.
Our overarching vision is to develop new educational projects with local schools and increase free cultural events such as outdoor cinemas and concerts. These are held against the picturesque backdrop of the Val dl’Ert – the perfect marriage between nature and art.

SMACH è un’associazione culturale non-profit attiva dal 2012 con un parco di sculture permanente - Val dl’Ert - a San Martino in Badia (BZ) e una biennale di land art sulle Dolomiti che ad ogni edizione registra un crescita esponenziale di application da tutto il mondo. SMACH opera in sinergia con sostenitori locali ed istituzionali, lavora per la promozione dell’arte, del territorio, della vita sociale locale e del turismo culturale, attivando un canale di incontro tra amanti dell’arte, appassionati di natura, turisti e professionisti di settore.
Con l’incremento della collezione d’arte della Val dl’Ert, aumenta anche il nostro impegno nella gestione, tutela e conservazione delle sculture e installazioni, oltre alla cura dei venti ettari della valle che comprendono un’ampia area boschiva e un maso di montagna.
In linea con la nostra vision, miriamo a sviluppare nuovi progetti didattici con le scuole del territorio e incrementare gli eventi culturali - sempre gratuiti - come il cinema all’aperto e i concerti che si tengono nella suggestiva cornice della Val dl’Ert tra natura e arte.

SMACH ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, der seit 2021 mit seinem permanenten Skulpturenpark – Val dl’Ert – in St. Martin in Thurn (Südtirol) sowie mit einer internationalen Kunst-Biennale in den Dolomiten aktiv ist, die sich durch eine von Mal zu Mal wachsende Zahl an Bewerbungen aus aller Welt auszeichnet.

SMACH operiert in Synergie mit lokalen und institutionellen Unterstützern. Der Verein engagiert sich für die Förderung der Kunst, der Region, des örtlichen Gemeinschaftslebens sowie des Kulturtourismus, indem es einen Begegnungskanal zwischen Kunstliebhabern, Naturfreunden, Touristen und Experten aus dem Kunstbereich schafft.
Mit dem Anwachsen der Kunstkollektion von Val dl’Ert nimmt auch unser Einsatz für die Verwaltung, den Schutz und die Konservierung der Skulpturen und Installationen sowie die Pflege des 20 Hektar großen Talbereichs zu, zu dem ein ausgedehntes Waldstück sowie ein Bergbauernhof gehören.
Im Einklang mit unserer Mission möchten wir auch neue Didaktikangebote für die Schulen der Umgebung entwickeln und zusätzliche Kulturveranstaltungen anbieten, die auch weiterhin kostenlos bleiben sollen. Darunter fallen das Open-Air-Kino und die Konzerte, die im stimmungsvollen Umfeld des Val dl’Ert zwischen Kultur und Natur stattfinden.
